Activision's Cease and Desist Halts Exciting H2M Mod for Modern Warfare Fans
- 96
In the realm of gaming, particularly for enthusiasts of Call of Duty, notable developments have emerged recently surrounding the H2M project. This modification aimed to transport the beloved multiplayer elements from the 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 into the contemporary version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. As gamers awaited its arrival, excitement was palpable.
Scheduled for release on August 16th, the launch took a sudden turn when, just a day prior, the development team announced on Twitter/X that they had received a cease and desist directive from Activision, effectively halting their efforts. The mod team shared that they were bound to comply with this request, resulting in the immediate and permanent cessation of all project activities.
The H2M mod was poised to offer an impressive array of features, including 50 new maps and customizable gun options, as well as elements like streaks seen in the original game. Yet, this isn’t the first instance that Activision has intervened against modifications, often preferring players to engage with their latest releases rather than revisit past successes.
